A complete brand transformation and identity design for Harrow Shelter Association Ltd., a dedicated non-profit organization focused on community support, housing assistance, and care for vulnerable populations. The project covers a comprehensive design system including core logo architecture, visual framing guidelines for human-centric photography, staff identification, corporate stationery, and high-impact environmental graphics.
Non-profit organizations addressing sensitive issues like shelter and social care often struggle to balance a professional institutional image with authentic human warmth. The challenge was to move away from overly sterile or somber visuals and build an optimistic, highly approachable identity. The new look needed to foster immediate trust, celebrate community unity, and function dynamic enough to act as a physical framing device across diverse promotional media.
We developed an abstract, geometric emblem that functions on multiple conceptual layers. The Iconography: The mark consists of three interlocking, abstracted human figures holding hands to form the structural silhouette of a protective home roof and walls. This symbolizes community, solidarity, and safety. Color Strategy: A vibrant, welcoming palette was selected—combining a warm, energetic orange, an approachable community green, and a calming, trustworthy sky blue. The Framing System: A key feature of the design system is using the geometric angles of the logo mark as a dynamic window or frame for photography. This seamlessly integrates real, emotive human stories directly into the brand architecture across posters, billboards, and ID badges. Touchpoint Rollout: The identity translates cleanly across corporate communications, team lanyard badges, massive exterior community murals, and urban street level billboards.
Humanized Brand Presence: By utilizing the logo paths as an image frame, marketing materials put the community members, families, and elderly individuals at the absolute center of the brand narrative. Cohesive Ecosystem: Staff members establish clear, professional authority while maintaining an open, approachable vibe through bright, integrated badge designs. Community Pride: High-impact environmental design, such as the large-scale outdoor wall mural, transforms local urban spaces, shifting public perception from an institutional shelter to a proud community landmark.
